We are very excited to present our Sointuva speaker. Sointuva is a Finnish word meaning "musical harmony" and March Audio believes this very aptly describes the performance of the Sointuva speaker.
Our design objective was to produce a speaker that is moderate in size yet possessed exceptionally deep and warm bass, with sweet crystal clear high frequencies and very low distortion.
To achieve this objective we investigated and tested a great number of drivers, but none came close in performance to the Purifi PTT6.5X04-NFA-01. This driver is a 6.5” driver that truly cracks the extended-stroke code. PURIFI’s research has identified the parameters that have so far prevented extended stroke drivers from breaking through in truly high performance audio.
Purif has taken care to optimize the various distortion mechanisms separately, thus guaranteeing that any measured improvement truly reflects a real audible improvement no matter what the signal is. Accurate mathematical models are developed for the motor, suspension and the vibroacoustics of the dome and surround. These models clearly explain several distortion mechanisms in each domain, which provides fundamental insights into better ways of constructing the motor, cone and suspension. Finally, the same models are used to numerically fine-tune the geometry. This way of working reliably reduces multiple distortions mechanisms which secures low IMD for complex signals.
The combination of the above characteristics results in a compact long-stroke driver that delivers complex sound with a clarity and lack of effort that was previously the exclusive province of large-cone short-stroke drivers. Additionally, thanks to the small cone size, the driver has excellent midrange reproduction.
Dual Purifi PTT6.5PR-NF1-01 passive radiators are used to on the rear of the speaker to extend the low frequency response. They also eliminate some of the problems associated with ported designs such as port noise. They provide the tightness of bass associated with closed boxes with the added extension of ported designs.
These small speakers behave like much bigger devices and the low frequency response is only -3dB down at 45Hz. This extended response negates the need for a sub woofer when used with music.
To complement the exceptional performance of the Purfi woofer we needed an exceptional tweeter. The Bliesma T34A fitted the bill perfectly.
An extremely low distortion design that is also capable of operating down to an amazingly low 1.3 kHz. Very few tweeters can achieve this. This allowed the use of a low 1.5kHz cross-over point which provides excellent directivity match with the woofer.
Sweet and detailed with exceptional clarity.
The crossover filter utilises high quality components including Jantzen capacitors and our own massive 1.6kg custom wound low loss air core inductor which minimises distortion and maximises sensitivity.
Not only did we want to provide aural harmony with the Sointuva but also aesthetic harmony.
The Sointuva is manufactured to order so the cabinets can be finished to your exact specification. We can provide paint finishes in any colour you like but also solid wood finished (not veneered) in a range of native Australian timbers.

The cabinets also perform an important function with respect to the sound quality. March Audios expertise with vibration analysis ensures the cabinets have appropriate bracing and damping to minimise colouration. The rounded edges are not just for aesthetics, they also minimise the effects of diffraction.
Superb sound is derived from superb technical performance. The Sointuva has been been designed and tested to ensure it delivers both.
