Good morning to all,
Before I begin, I welcome Alan's initiative to create this forum.
I am a proud owner of a P452 which has impressively increased my listening pleasure on my system ...
But that's not the point!
Even before being a customer at March Audio, Alan had been kind enough to answer a problem that was materializing in my house by a consistent crackling on one of my speakers. Where Topping hadn't had one which had cost me an exchange under warranty of my dx7 pro.
Alan had diagnosed a ground loop problem when I plugged in my DAC which caused a compatibility problem between my different audio components. This problem should have been solved either:
- by changing a device of my system (node 2i , dx7 pro, pre + amp YBA at the time đ ) ;
- or by using XLR cable
Thing done with my P452 + XLR <=> dx7 pro.
But that sizzle persisted.
So I took the initiative to use a schuko plug that I had, to isolate the grounding plug from the DAC with tape.

. And there ... nothing more !! what a relief ...
The approach of this post is twofold:
- that my experience can be useful to others ...
- ask a question: can this operation harm the elements of my installation? and will I reduce the sound quality of my DAC over time?
Thank you for your attention and have a good end or beginning of the day !
Nice tips!đ
Hi Aldo
I really would advise against this. It proves the point that its a ground loop problem, but if your components have a mains earth connection its there for a reason - safety! You shouldnt bypass it.
Lets go through your system in detail and find a better solution.
What is the source feeding the DX7? Computer?
Whilst its not cheap putting these isolators between your source and DX7 should solve the loop problem.
